Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).

How it’s Used: Taken orally in the form of a pill.

Effects: This works by selectively inhibiting the reuptake of the neurotransmitter 5-hydroxytryptophan (serotonin) by the nerve cells. This leads to the accumulation of serotonin in the brain and increased serotonin stimulation.

Side Effects

Nervousness, trouble sleeping, headache, drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, sweating, dizziness, lightheadedness, muscle spasms, or changes in sexual function.
